This run is for those of you that can maintain a steady pace averaging around 18mph with some fast intervals.



The meeting point for the club runs is at the top of Hulham Rd & Dinan WAY  The meeting time is currently 8.30am to leave at 8.45.

There is currentl not an organised A-run, but this is being reviewed and we hope to resurrect very soon

From Hulham Road

Along sea front to Victoria road and along Marin Way to join cycle path, Topsham, Countess Wear, Marsh Barton, Ide, Tedburn St Mary, Cheriton Bishop, Crockernwell, Whiddon, Spreyton, Bow (cafe in Garden Centre).

Home via Coleford, Crediton Newton St Cyres, Cowley, and along the river and cycle path back to Exmouth. (65 miles total).




Escot via Cabury Castle and the Burn Valley.


Shaldon via Haldon.


Four firs, Clyst St George, Topsham, Countess Wear, Shillingford St George, Dunchideock, Lawrence Castle (Cat 1), Haldon Hill, Little Haldon, Teignmouth, Shaldon for tea, home via Dawlish and Powderham.


60ish miles, not flat but probably wet. 


Dunsford, Via Mamhead and Moretonhampstead.

Four firs, Clyst St George, Topham, Countess Wear, Exminster, Kenton, Mamhead, Letf onto A380, exit at fist junction after approx 1 mile, decend lanes to Chudleigh, Chudleigh Knighton, Bovey Tracey, Manaton (could go straight up A382 if people are keen to get home for a dip), B3212, Moretonhamstead, Docombe, Dunsford, Walled Garden for tea and cheesy chips! then home via the shortest route possible.

70ish miles, mountainous.

 Tour of Britain 2011, Stage 5, The hilly bit!

Four firs, Clyst St George, Topham, Countess Wear, Double Locks, Longdown, Down the Teign valley, Chudleigh Knighton, Bovey Tracey (pick up tour route here), Haytor (cat 1), Widecombe in the moor, Ponsworthy, Coffin Stone (cat 2), Dartmeet, Huccaby Tor (cat 2), Two Bridges, Postbridge, Moretonhampstead for tea (leave tour route here). Home via Docombe and Longdown.

May have to shorten if the weather turns wet.

80 - 90 miles, mountainous.

Shaldon via Doccombe 


9.00 Hulham Road. Four Firs, Woodbury, Clyst St George, Topsham, Canal path to Marsh Barton, Ide.

Turn left into Ide thro village and take straight on to join road to Longdown. Over Longdown, Dunsford and climb thro Docombe to turn second left at cross on summit , bear left and follow road to Hennock. Descend thro Hennock and at five lanes, take the second left to drop into Teign Valley to turn right on B3193 then left to Chudliegh.  Take 4th right round back of town and follow road to Ideford, Luton, across golf course to descend into Teignmouth, across bridge to Shaldon and cafe. (Alternatively use Railway Station cafe). (40 miles, )

Home via Dawlish, Dawlish Warren, Starcross and Powderham, Countess Wear, Topsham, Clyst St George, Woodbury Four Firs. (65 miles total)

 Colyton (and Colyton)

9.00am Hulham Road.  Four firs, Halfway House, West Hill, Ottery, Tipton St John, Bowd, Sidford, Sidbury, to Hare and Hounds where right then sharp left to golf course. Offwell and drop into Colyton for cafe at tram station. (32 miles) (alternatively Seaton).  There is also an option to put on an extra 9 mile loop through Axmouth, along cyle network route through the old Rousden school grounds  and back down the main road to Colyton.

Back hoem viaSeaton, Beer and Sidford, Newton Pop, Hawkerland, Woodbury castle. (54miles or 63 miles).


Daisey Mount, Fairmile, Fenny Bridges, Honiton.

A-run : Through Honiton and climb to Stockland Hill. Left and cross A30 to Upottery, Churchingford then Hemyock (either left in Chuchingford and direct, or straight on in Churchingford and follow ridge around towards Wellington memorial.
From Hemyock, Culmstock and Uffculme for cafe at cold harbour.

Dragon Run: From Honiton climb towards Dunkerswell, left past gliding club to Blackborough, descend to Ashill and through to Uffculme.

From Uffculme, home via Long Drag, Dunsford , Talton, Larkbeare

Tiverton - Canal cafe (also via Bampton).

9.00 Hulham Road.  Woodbury (via Cow-pat lane), White horse, right on A3052 then left on B3184. 2nd right through Perkins Village. right through Ayelsebeare to Tipton Cross where straight over to descend to Metcombe. Left through Fluxton to cross B3174 to Fairmile.Straight acroos old A30 to Talaton, Clyst Hydon and Langford Green, where left towards Cullompton, but take right turn to Mutterton and take left across to Aller, left and across A373 and follow lane into Willand. Right on B3181 through Willand to turn left under motorway to Halberton and continue to Tiverton to Canal cafe.

A-run to right at tee before Halberton and left for Uplowman. Continue up the Uplowman valley through Huntsham to left on B3227 between Shillingford and Bampton. Go through Bampton turning left to join A396 to follow Exe valley back to Tiverton and cafe on the canal.

Home via Bickleigh, Silverton, Killerton, Budlake, Broadclyst, Clyst Honiton and Woodbury.

Dunsford walled garden via Cheriton Bishop and Castle Drogo

9.00 Hulham Road.  Four Firs, Clyst St George, Topsham, Countess Wear, Ide, Pathfinder Village, Tedburn, Cheriton Bishop.

At Cheriton, continue through Crockernwell to take left under A30 to Drewsteighton. Follow road through Drewsteighton and take left past Castle Drogo to join Teign Valley at Sandy Park.Straight across to Chagford, in to centre where left, 2nd left (to left of  Chagford House) and follow lane lane back towards A382 but take right at cross roads through Meacombe farm to Bughead cross and left on B3212 to Mortenhampstead.

Striaght on across A382 to climb Doccombe and descend to Dunston and cafe.

Home via Longdown.


Four Firs, Woodbury, Clyst St George, Topsham, Countess Wear, Marsh Barton, via canal path, Ide, Pathfinder, Tedburn, Cheriton Bishop, Whiddon Down, North Tawton, Winkliegh (cafe at the start of the airport). (38 miles)

Home via B3220 then A377 to Copplestone then left to bypass Crediton and home via Shobrooke, Thorverton, Silveton, Budlake, Broadclyst and chioce of Clyst Honiton or Whimple depending on how you feel.
 (80 miles total)

Lyme Regis

 Hulham Road .  Four Firs, Halfway house, contimue towards West Hill but take right for Metcombe and right again at bottom for Tipton St John.

Through Tipton St John, straight on at cross roads to climb to East hill strips (for the benefit of Pete Money).  Along East Hill Strip to Hare and Hounds at Putts Corner, straight on to turn left at A3052 towards Seaton.  2nd left to Colyton, over river to Whitford, R then L for Kilmington.

Right on A35and left on B3261 to Axminster. Through townfollowing B3261 then fork left up Stammery Hill. At B3165 turn right for approx 1 mile then take 3rd left thorugh Raymonds Hill, cross A35and take next left to Harcombe Bottom, to Uplyme. Take left to climb to Ridgeway and then descend to Lyme Regis - find  cafe on the sea front. (37 miles)

Return to Exmouth along A3052 to Rousden, where left to descend to Axmouth and Seaton, Beer, climb past caves and take the second (not so hairy) descnt into Brancombe.  Climb out f Branscombe but left at Anchor to Weston and Donkey Sanctuary.

Back on to A3052 to Sidford, Bowd, newton Poppleford and home. (65 miles).

Dunsford Walled Garden via Hay Tor

 Hulham Road.  Four Firs, Woodbury, Clyst St George, Topsham, Countess Wear, Matford Island and turn into Exminster. Follow lanes through to Kenn and Splatford Farm and Holoway Barton to turn left at cross roads and climb over Haldon to descend to Chudliegh.

Bovey tracey and climb Hay Tor on B3387. Contimue on B3387 past Hay tor to take right for Moretonhampstead, bearing left at Hounds tor to eventually turn right on B3212 to descend to Moretonhampstead.  

debate at this point whether to use cafe in Moreton Hampsead (40 miles)or to continue to Dunsford.(45 miles)

Home via Longdown. (Total 65 miles )

Uffculme via Tiverton and Bampton 

Hulham Road.  Four Firs, Woodbury Castle, Halfway  House, Daisy Mount.

Sraight on at Daisy Mount to Hand and Pen, right to Whimple. Left towards Broadclyst, but bypassthrough Burrow to Budlake.  Take Silverton road turning right on bend towards Bradninch.  After sharp left take next turning on left to climb through Caseberry to take left at tee.Folow lane past transmitter tofork left at Queensborough to Butterliegh. Through Butteriegh to Burrow Cornerand follow lane al of the way nto Tiverton.

Route through Tiverton to take road to Chettiscombe. Bear left around back f Knightshayes and continue to Bampton.  Through Bampton and take valley road towards Shillingford. Turn left before crossing river (opposite our normal route to Uplowman).  straight on at crossroads and bear right for Westwoods, and continue to climb steep through Quartery farm to right atcrossroads at Gamblyn Farm. 

Descend through Blackwell keeping right for Batherm bridge. Left at tee to cross B3227 to Petton and North Bulcombe to right at cross roads above Clayhanger. Folow lanes to join Uplowman valley at Huntsham.

Straight on at Uplowman to Sampford Peverell and Uffculme for cafe.(52 miles)

Home via Bradfied and Dulford, Talaton, Daiseymount. (72 miles total)

Cheriton Bishop via Thorverton

 Hulham Road. Four Firs, Woodbury, White Horse, Clyst Honiton, BroadClyst, Budlake, Killerton, Silverton, Thorverton.

West Raddon, Shobrooke, Sandford, West Sandford, Brandirons Corner, cross A377 to Yeoford, Woodland head and Cheriton Bishop for cafe. (37 miles).

Return via Dunsford and Longdown. (total 61 miles)

Blackdown Hills and BroadHembury Gliding Club (60 miles or 75 Miles)

Hulham Road, Four firs, Halfway house, West hill, Ottery, Alfington, Iron Bridge, Weston (15 miles).

From Weston there will be choice of two circular -ish routes through the Blackdown Hills - 

Route 1 - 
Honiton high street, Windgate Hill to Dunkerswell, Hemyock and take climb towards Churchinford but at crossroads at Redlane turn left for Churchstanton.  Sharp right back to Churchinford, straight on to Moonhayes and right to bypass Smeatharpe.  Along Luppitt Straight to Ewins Ash cross where right and straight across cross roads to Westerhope farm. Right at tee to Gliding club. (cafe).
From cafe take road to Hembury fort and descend through Awliscombe to Weston. Back to Exmouth (60 miles)

Route 2 -
Honiton high street, Windgate Hill to Dunkerswell, Hemyock .  Climb towards Wellington Memorialand take right at cross roads.  Take 5th left down Blagdon Hill. Right at Sellick\'s Green, through Pitminster to Corfe where right on to B3170 to top of Staple Hill. Rightto Holmans Glavel and across to join road for Churchstanton, fork left for  Churchinford, straight on to Moonhayes and right to bypass Smeatharpe.  Along Luppitt Straight to Ewins Ash cross where right and straight across cross roads to Westerhope farm. Right at tee to Gliding club. (cafe).
From cafe take road to Hembury fort and descend through Awliscombe to Weston.

Home to Exmouth via Fenny Bridges, Fairmile and West Hill. (total 75 miles)


Exmouth - Cheriton - Trusham- Haldon Cafe (60 miles)

 Halfway Ho, Aylesbeare, Airport, Clyst St Mary, Countess Wear via Rydon lane, Exeter Canal, Old A30 Tedburn St Mary, Cheriton Bishop, Dunsford, Teign Vally, take a left to Crocombe Bridge, Trusham, Larrence Castle, Haldon Cafe, (44 miles) return down cycle track, Old A38 and Kennford and home via Woodbury (60 miles total).


Uffculme via Wellington Memorial

Halfway Ho, Daisey Mount, Larkbeare,Dulford, Kingsford, Bradfield, Uffculme, Culmstock, Cross A38, Burlescombe, Westleigh, Beacon Hill and return to A38, A38 East and Bypass Wellington, Monument Road,  descend to Hemyock and return to Uffculme Mill for cafe, home any which way every one fancies.

Alternatively - Uffculme via Tiverton and Westleigh

9.00 am Hulham Road. Four Firs, Woodbury, White Horse, Clyst Honiton, Broadclyst, Budlake, Silverton, Bickleigh, Tiverton.

Take road towards Halberton, but take left for Uplowman.  Straight on at Uplowman to Witnage, Trump and Westleigh.

Burlescombeto A38 where left then right on B3391 to Culmstock, right fo Ufculme (cafe) (41.5 miles).

Back to Exmouth via Bradfieldd, Kentisbeare,  Dulford, Talaton and Larkebeare. (63 miles total).


Cheriton Bishop via Cadeleigh and Black Dog.

Hulham Road Exmouth, Woodbury, White Horse, Clyst Honiton, Broad Clyst, Budlake, Silverton, Bickleigh.

Left after bridge and right immediately after hump back bridge to climb to Cadeleigh. Continue through Way Village to take left fork and left again for to Pennymoor.  Straight on to Puddington and Black Dog.

Straight over cross roads direction Morchard Bishop.  Half mile before Morchard take left to Higher Venn and Newbuildings.  In New Buildings take left towards Copplestone and next left, left in Elston to turn right at Brandirons Corner, staight over A377.  Straight on, right at tee and left after 200 yards to Yeoford.  Left after Station and climb to Cheriton Bishop (Cafe) 46 miles.

Home direct route through Tedburn and Pathfinder Village back to Exmouth (67 miles total).

Seaton, Axminster, Offwell.

9.00 Hulham Road. Four Firs, Woodbury Castle, Hawkerland, Newton Poppleford, Harpford, Tipton St John, Fluxton, Ottery St Mary.

Up Chineway and cross over at Hare and Hounds to join A3052, where left then 4th right on B3174 to drop into Beer.  

Through Seaton to Axmouth where right and climb avoiding really steep hills) to eventually rejoin A3052 at Rousden. 

  Take left turn after Rousden to Trinity Hill and turn left at A35. - 

 then right on B3261 to Axminster.  Left in Axminster and take B3261 at island to Kilmington, right on A35 then left to Whitford and Colyton (cafe at Tram Station, 38 miles).

In Colyton take right after bridge, over next bridge veer right with playground on your left and climb to Offwell.  as you hit the main A35 keep left on the lane and follow through village turning left for the golf course. Over Gittisham Common, then sharp left at Tee to Hare and Hounds.  Straight over, down Chine Way to Ottery. Home via West Hill. ( 66 miles total)


Telegraph Hill Transport cafe, via Dawlish, Teignmouth, Newton abbot and Trusham.
9.00 Hulham Road. Four Firs, Woodbury, Clyst St george, Topsham, CountessWear, Exminster, Powderham, Starcross, Dawlish Warren, Dawlish, Teignmouth.

Cross bridge to Shaldon and take right to Combeinteignhead and Netherton to Penn Inn.

Through Newton Abbot to Race Course and skirt Kingsteignton and take B3139 up the Teign Valley.Continue along valley to right turn to Trusham. Climb to Belvedere Tower and sharp right along Great Haldon to pass under A38 at the race course to the Transport cafe on top of Telegraph Hill. (43 miles).

Home via descent of Mamhead, turning left at 2nd set of cross roads and follow lanes through to Exminster.

 Cheriton Bishop

Bypass Crediton and cross A377 to Coleford and Bow. Spreyton to Whiddon Down and old A30 to Cheriton Bishop.

26 January 2014 - Daisy Mount to Tiverton.

 “This route is aimed at catering for the Juniors but A-runners are welcome to come    along”.

Meet at Daisy Mount at 9.30 to leave at 9.40.


Descend old A30 to Hand and Pen Inn and turn right for Whimple. Left in Whimple direction Broadclyst taking right through Burrow to Budlake where right to Silverton.  Right on A396 to Bickleigh, over river and continue direction Tiverton but turn left to climb through Yearistone and Rashleighhaynes.  At top of climb veer right past Mogridge Farm to drop into Tiverton.


Cafe – at Bridge in Tiverton.


Return via lanes to Cullompton and back to Daisy Mount via Mutterton, Clyst Hydon, Talaton and Larkbeare.
